The start of things to come.....

Well I did say I would keep you updated with my studio, and amazingly its starting to take shape... please dont mind the mess under the carport (that will get cleaned out soon) oh and all the beers (apparently its THIRSTY WORK) lol

But here is a sneak peak of what It looked like this afternoon

So if you excuse the mess and have a look in the back (where the roller door is - which is going to get replace with a wall and door) you will notice two windows, a black one and a white frame one.. the black frame one is NOW sitting in the frame closest to the gate and the white one will eventually be in the wall in the middle....

This may look pretty unimpressive at the moment but i am amazed because its all being made by my partner and his friend (and for those who know these two its a BIG thing LOL) - oh and Ive drilled a few screws in etc too :)

In the end it will be VERY impressive and Ill be able to say I have a top class studio :)
Feel free to let me know what you think so far... and look out for more updates soon :)

CRUSADE AGAINST CANCER

Have you ever felt the need to help a cause?

It all started almost a year ago for me... Through Starr In The Skye Photography I met a beautiful little girl who has a heart condition. I felt I needed to help, thus creating Heroic Heart Kids Charity Auction. Ive had 2 auctions so far and raised approx $13000 all up for Heartkids SA.

The other day I was approached by Southern Playdates. They are having an Australia's Biggest Morning Tea Event and wanted to know if I would donate or attend on the day.

I WILL be attending on the day, Saturday 4th June in Reynella, Adelaide... and would love to see you on the day, but I have decided to a little extra. From now until then I will be offering quick 5 min sessions. These will be held either in my studio, at home.. OR I can organise 'Crusade Against Cancer' days where I do several shoots at a location.

ALL PROFITS GO TO Australia's Biggest Morning Tea.

So how does it work ???

  • $20 per photo
  • 5 min session
  • 1 photo will be creatively edited and emailed to you in full resolution,            ready to be printed/enlarged
  • The photo will also be uploaded to Starr In The Skye Photography AND Southern Playdates with a 'Crusade Against Cancer' Border that you are able to tag yourself, friends and family in - great for sharing that you have helped a great charity on one of the biggest social networks ... and promoting awareness of this great cause!
REMEMBER ALL PROCEEDS GO TOWARDS THIS WORTHY CAUSE,
SO PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD

INTERESTED??? PLEASE CONTACT ME AT STARRINTHESKYE@LIVE.COM

Cancer has hit MANY people in MY family alone..... So I am only too happy to help this wonderful Event.

Babies Babies and more Babies!!!!

I am LOVING babies at the moment. Today we went to the pregnancy, babies and childrens expo and I had a ball... seeing soo many little babies certainly make me making a sound like I should have been an animal outside in the petting zoo... (and it WASNT the cute little black pig)....

Newborn shoots generally take at least twice as long as normal creative sessions, due to feeding, settling and generally comforting baby, but its is SOOOOOO worth it. I have found a talented lady who is just starting out a photography prop / mcn facebook page that has made a few of my props and I am so happy with the final results. I hope the lovely ladies I have photographed for lately have been extremely happy too (please feel free to leave feedback ladies).

Here are just a few of the photos from late (this is going to be hard to choose just a few)

there are many more you can check out on my facebook page... and as always I love comments/feedback, so feel free to leave some either here or on my facebook page.

but just as a reminder (or note to those that dont know)

THE SAFETY OF BABY IS MY #1 CONCERN, I WILL NOT TAKE A PHOTO THAT WILL PUT THE BABY IN ANY DANGER WHAT SO EVER...
(this does mean that editing may occur to give the 'effect' that is the end result)

My clients know this but I do NOT want anyone trying these, or other potentially harmful poses at home...  I want your babies to be safe, so leave it to the professionals xx

Also thankyou to all the ladies who have had newborn/baby shoots recently for your patience during the sessions and allowing me the honour of taking your precious memories. I hope they are forever cherished.

Nite all xx

Introducing my new package

Hey all,
Well until recently I was quite happy just taking photos and providing cds to my clients.. I like to do this because then YOU have control of the photos you print, how many you print AND the sizes you print them at. So many times I see people with a fist full of 'wallet' photos, now I know a lot of people give them to relatives but do you REALLY want that many? Or the great debate over who to give what photo to.... Grandparents always tend to love the same photo that you do, and its always the one that you only get ONE photo of.

The other night I was in bed, woke up and started thinking... as I seem to do a LOT lately.. I have been doing a heap of newborn or small baby photoshoots lately and I LOVE getting the 'little things' such as newborn fuzz, little ears, cute little fingers/fists, lips and such... and of course their ADORABLE feet!

I seemed to have epiphany ... OMG how adorable would it be to get a photo of your childrens feet... So the next day... I set up.. "Are WE having a photoshoot? Are we going to have props? What are we going to do? What am I going to wear? How can I wear my hair" - and all this was within a 2 second blurt from Makayla. When I told her it didnt matter what her hair looked like I got a puzzled look... (Im always on at her about brushing and doing her hair nicely).

I sat them down and trying to get 3 kids (especially MINE) to sit still for more than a half a microsecond is a chore! Grabbed my camera and Snapped... Makayla and Isla were so excited to see what their photo looked like and if they did "GOOD" ... Once finished they were so pleased, and I am too... I plan to get a 20x32" foamcore poster of the photo and put it in the entrance of my hallway.

But I want to extend this great idea to you too... It would make an awesome mothers/nannas day present and Im sure that everyone would agree its such a great way of showing your growing children...

FOR ONLY $150 (LIMITED SESSIONS AT THIS PRICE)

you get a 20 min mini session:

* Including either a 20" x 30/32" foamcore print OR 3mm MDF 16"x20" mounted print. (example above)
* During this time a few other photos will be taken which can be purchased 5 photos on cd for $50 (including already printed photo)

I have made sure that its included on a beautifully presented large wall mount so that mum can cherish it forever. It is a great size so that you too can put it somewhere prominent where people will definately admire it. For the awesome price of $50 you can get that photo on a cd so you can then reprint it, along with 4 other photos, AWESOME VALUE ...

this is a special limited time only offer that is sure to book fast.

When you book IF you are a follower of my blog PLEASE mention this!!! :)

Also feel free to comment and let me know what you think of my blogging so far... Is it what you expected? What would YOU like to see in my blogs? I love to hear what you are thinking. Remember, subscribe to my blog for updates, specials and feel free to share with friends also.

Be in touch again soon no doubt.

Welcome

Hey Everyone, I would love to welcome you to Starr In The Skye Photography's FIRST blog, for those who know me well.. sometimes technology and I butt heads... So bare with me, I promise I will work it all out soon hehe. You will also find, I have a sometimes strange sense of humour... but that is me and I want you to get to know me more than just as the lady who takes photos... So here goes...

My name is Elissa, I live in the southern suburbs of Adelaide and I am a mum to 3 girls, aged 1, 3 and 7. I love all children (especially when they are sleeping) and adore photography. Over the years I have always wanted to get into the photography business but life 'got in the way' (mostly because I had a 'normal' job with a regular income that I could count on). When I went on maternity leave with Amber I made the huge decision of staying at home with my children instead of returning to work.. I wanted to watch them grow and not miss a single thing. As I took hundreds ... ok perhaps THOUSANDS of photos of my kids, again I started thinking of hobby photography, people seemed to like the photos I took and so I thought WHY NOT! What do I have to lose?? Doing something I absolutely love in my spare time and still staying at home with the kids. Thus creating Starr In The Skye Photography.

I have now been Starr In The Skye Photography for almost a year, I have met many new people through my hobby, even made amazing new friends. I adore capturing moments that you will treasure forever and love hearing what people think of the photos I create and receiving feedback through my facebook page, Personal Messages and Email. I believe sharing is caring and by me sharing my passion with you, I feel a great sense of pride and happiness. (Nothing beats when you know you have NAILED that shot that is most wanted and having someone walk away overjoyed and almost RUSHING to get them printed)

My clients and likers ( or should I just say my new friends!!!!) have kept in contact over facebook and often contact me, for this reason over the last few days I have been contemplating setting up a 'newsletter' that will get sent out to all my lovely fans that would like to be kept up with all the latest news on me, my family and of course Starr In The Skye Photography, offers/specials, competitions and more.... Then someone suggested why not blog? That way you can see sneak peeks of new shoots, find out on the spot last minute offers, and follow my business and family as it grows (well as my family grows UP not OUT if you know what I mean LOL). It also allows for you to still comment or contact me easily or share the photos I have created with your friends who may have the internet but not facebook.

I am most happy when I make others happy, and with my passion, enthusiasm and commitment I hope I can constantly achieve and EXCEED your expectations. I love when I can have you and your friends RAVING about the memories I have captured.

If you would like to know anything, suggest anything, or generally have your say,
Please I urge you to comment, let me know what you are thinking..

Will add more information and photos soon :)

I will leave you with a recent photo I have been able to take of my girls... which I personally cant wait to get printed and hang on my wall as you enter my house...
